What is Laminated Glass?

What is Laminated Glass?

Laminated glass is composed of two or more pieces of glass with one or more layers of organic polymer interlayers sandwiched between them. After special high-temperature pre-pressing (or vacuuming) and high-temperature and high-pressure processes, the glass and the interlayer are permanently bonded as a composite glass product.

Commonly used laminated glass interlayer films are: PVB, SGP, EVA, etc. And the interlayer has a variety of colors and transmittance to choose from.

Laminated Glass Characters:

Laminated glass means that the glass is tempered and further processed safely to bond two pieces of glass together. After the glass is broken, it will not splash and hurt people and it plays a safety role. Laminated glass has high safety. Because the middle layer film is tough and has strong adhesion, it is not easy to be penetrated after being damaged by impact and the fragments will not fall off and are tightly bonded to the film. Compared with other glass, it has the properties of shock resistance, anti-theft, bullet-proof and explosion-proof.

In Europe and the United States, most architectural glass uses laminated glass, not only to avoid injury accidents, but also because laminated glass has excellent seismic intrusion resistance. The interlayer can resist the continuous attacks of hammers, hatchets and other weapons. Among them, the bulletproof laminated glass can also resist bullet penetration for a long time, and its security level can be described as extremely high. It has many properties such as shock resistance, anti-theft, bullet-proof and explosion-proof.

Laminated glass size: maximum size 2440*5500(mm) minimum size 250*250(mm) The commonly used PVB film thickness: 0.38mm, 0.76mm, 1.14mm, 1.52mm. The thicker the film thickness, the better the explosion-proof effect of the glass.

Laminated Glass Precautions:

1. The thickness difference between the two pieces of glass should not exceed 2mm.

2. It is not advisable to use a laminated structure with only one piece of tempered or semi-tempered glass.
