Introduces Three EMI Shielding Glass Technologies – ITO Coating, Shielding Film, and Copper Mesh Laminate
To help customers balance electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection against optical clarity, durability and cost, SAIDA GLASS LTD today announced its full suite of EMI shielding glass solutions based on three proven methods: ITO coated glass, EMI shielding film, and copper mesh laminated glass.
Each technology serves different application needs – from commercial displays to military-grade secure facilities.
1. ITO Coated Glass
Best Optical Quality
A transparent conductive oxide (ITO) layer is vacuum-deposited onto the glass surface.
Advantages
Excellent transparency (80–90%), virtually invisible, uniform conductivity.
Limitations
Moderate shielding (20–40 dB), scratch‑sensitive, susceptible to oxidation, higher material cost.
Ideal For
Office environments, medical equipment, applications where visual clarity is top priority.
2. EMI Shielding Film
Flexible & Cost‑Effective
A conductive coating (ITO or metal mesh) on a PET film, laminated onto existing glass.
We can make AR coating on the other glass side to improve the transmittance.
Advantages
Easy retrofit installation, works on curved surfaces, low cost, no power required.
Limitations
Moderate shielding (typically 30–40 dB), exposed surface prone to scratching and yellowing.
Ideal For
Retrofit projects, prototypes, consumer electronics, budget‑sensitive applications.
3. Copper Mesh Laminated Glass
Maximum Protection
A fine copper mesh is embedded between glass layers, creating a durable conductive grid.
Advantages
Superior shielding (30–60 dB, up to 80–90 dB for multi‑layer military designs), excellent durability, no oxidation issues, ultra‑low sheet resistance (<0.2 Ω/sq).
Limitations
Slightly visible mesh pattern, light transmittance 50–70%, higher manufacturing cost.
Ideal For
Defense, aerospace, SCIFs, government facilities, RF anechoic chambers.
